Water Wastage

Hi, my name is Yazmin and I am going to talk about water, its wastage, and how important it is to us to stop it. Is every drop of water important?

Yes, turning on a tap and pouring yourself a glass of water is one of the simplest things in the world you could do! We rely on water for everyday needs like get a glass of water, have a shower or a bath. Can you imagine water not being here? What do you think we would have to drink? In a lot of places on earth, there are water shortages like when the Christchurch earthquake happened, most people had to line up for water for their everyday needs! People need to know that water is a really precious thing, and we need to be careful that we don’t turn it to waste. Do you ever leave some water in a plastic bottle? If you do and don’t drink it you should pour it down the sink so it goes to lakes and rivers then reuse it. In New Zealand our water problems have only started, the problems here are water pollution and our water supply.

What are the problems in the world?
In the world there are a lot of problems, Because of the water cycle, the water on earth will never change! But the water is changing! We use more water now than we did in the past and one of the main reasons for this is farmers. When the cow does a dropping and there is fertilizer in the ground the rain washes it into the streams and it is now polluting the water! What would you do without farmers to grow crops? How would you deal with this? Council workers have to test the water to make sure that it is safe to drink. Not all our problems are from farms, water pollution is also happening from towns, and cities. This water is now back in the water cycle, but very little use to us! Why is this water back into the water cycle?

What is an endless cycle?
We get our water from the lakes, rivers, streams, creeks, rain, and the sea! Groundwater is also an important part of the water cycle even though we never see it or know it’s there! All of the world is part of the same cycle, this cycle we are in is millions of years old. But when do we get new water? Never, we never get new water because it is all one cycle! When you brushed your teeth this morning you might be dinosaur pee! Our planet ( Earth ) has always had the same amount of water it has now which is used and reused many times. The water cycle! The sun, which drives the water cycle, heats water in the oceans, rivers, and lakes 2. Some of this water rises and turners into vapor and becomes the water droplets in the clouds 3. Eventually, colder temperatures force the clouds to lose their moisture as rain, hail, or snow 4. Some of this flows into rivers, lakes, and finally the ocean. Some of it stays frozen as snow or ice for thousands of years. The rest of the water soaks up deep in the earth, where it becomes part of the groundwater supply.

In conclusion, I think helping our water, and stop polluting will be a great start to fix our waters. You could also have shorter showers to not waste any water. Learning about the water cycle is a great idea and will help us in the future!
